Shamli, Jan 15: A Samajwadi Party MLA and candidate in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls from Kairana, Nahid Hasan, was arrested on Saturday.
Police sources here said he was arrested from Kairana Shamli Marg and presented in the Additional District and Sessions Court.
In February last year, a case was registered against 40 people including Hasan and his mother and former MP Tabassum Hasan under the Gangster Act in Shamli Kotwali.
About three dozen accused had surrendered in Kotwali. Tabassum Hasan had got anticipatory bail.
