Bhopal, Mar 31: A case has been registered against qawwal Sharif Parwaz for allegedly anti-national singing and two teams of Madhya Pradesh Police have reached Kanpur for “rounding him up,” state Home Minister and government spokesman Narottam Mishra said here on Thursday.
“I urge him to sing thumri, dadra, khyal or anything else but abjure any thought of anti-nationalism. This applies to writers, singers, poets and qawwals. It is an era of nationalism and a nationalist dispensation is in power. Therefore, such actions shall not be tolerated. Action has been taken under sections 153, 505 and 298 of the Indian Penal Code. Kanpur Police is extending cooperation to our officers and Parwaz shall be rounded up soon,” Dr Mishra told the press.
