Congress, GFP Candidates Take Pledge Of Loyalty

Panaji, Feb 4: Candidates of the Congress and Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Friday signed affidavits and took a pledge to be loyal to their parties after getting elected as MLAs. They took the pledge in the presence of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram and Dinesh Gundu Rao among others.

The Congress has fielded 37 candidates and the GFP three in Assembly elections due on February 14. It is the second occasion when the Congress candidates have taken a pledge to remain united. Recently the went to mosques, temples and churches to take pledge to be united. In 2017, the Congress won 17 seats but during the last five years 15 of the MLAs deserted it. Two days back, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a similar pledge. The AAP had been mocking at the Congress over the mass defections.
