BJP Is Anti-Brahmin, Anti-Dalit: Congress

New Delhi, Jan 25: The Congress on Tuesday slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over controversial remarks, reportedly made by Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan and said it was clear by his comments that BJP was “anti-Dalit and anti-Brahmin”.
“It is clear from the statement of the Union Minister that Dalits, Backward and Brahmins are being exploited in Uttar Pradesh,” Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate told reporters at the party headquarters here.
“It is true that criminals have no caste, but the way the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh has exploited Brahmins by pursuing a particular caste, perhaps Balyan’s call of ‘Panditvaad Murdabad’ in the viral video is proof of that” she accused.
The Congress spokesperson made these remarks after a video went viral on social media, in which the Minister reportedly made remarks against a particular community, while addressing a rally along with his party leaders in Meerut on Sunday.
The Spokesperson said that the Union Minister should give an explanation as to why he has humiliated Brahminism in his election meetings. The Congress has also criticised Balyan’s video, saying that it has exposed the anti-Dalit, backward and anti-Brahmin face of the saffron party. Meanwhile in his clarification, the Union Minister and MP from Muzaffarnagar said, “Whatever the misconceptions are being spread about me on social media, is being done to tarnish my image and to mislead the Brahmin community in elections.”
Asked about senior Congress leader RPN Singh, Shrinate said a person like Singh cannot fight Congress’ battle against BJP. “The fight in UP is against the arrogant government and it can only be fought with courage and determination, and not by cowardice,” she said.
