BJP Government Failed In Manipur: Priyanka

New Delhi, Feb 15 : Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in Manipur, accusing it of failing to address the state’s burning issues which she said the Congress will fix if voted to power. “People of Manipur are facing problems like inflation, unemployment, lack of health and education services, and crime against women because the government doesn’t want to resolve them. Their only will is come to power by any means and remain in power. This mindset won’t develop the state,” she said in a veiled attack on the BJP government, while addressing a virtual rally in poll-bound Manipur. Manipur needs a government which thrives for the state’s development and resolve the issues people were facing, she asserted. “Right from the beginning of the formation of this government (BJP), there was an ‘undemocratic’ behaviour and process… It has continuously disrespected the mandate of 2017. The outcome is corruption. Neither it has brought peace nor created employment opportunities,” the Congress leader said. The Congress is committed to give a government whose primary focus would be development and making the state’s infrastructure strong, she said. Talking about women empowerment, she said: “You need a government that recognises the equality of women. The Congress considers women as equal. The BJP’s ideology can never consider women as equal.” On tourism, the Congress leader said: “There has to be an emphasis on ‘tourism’ in Manipur. This sector can generate huge employment opportunities. We will focus on creating employment opportunities in the state.” Assembly elections in Manipur will be held on February 28 and March 5.
