The Injured Innocent Succumbs To Injuries
Bhubaneswar, June 14: The injured elephant that had been found a week back in Narasinghpur West Range under the Athagarh forest division in Cuttack district died on Tuesday after battling for life for eight days.
A team of Veterinary doctors from Nandankanan Zoological Park, OUAT and Satkosia Tiger Reserve was treating the injured elephant.
The doctor’s team rushed to the forest and checked the health condition of the elephant and started treating it after senior BJD leader and former Minister D P Mishra brought it to the notice of the state Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Amat on Tuesday last.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Sashi Paul had earlier said the elephant was shot from a country-made gun and had gunshot injuries on the trunk, face, and front-right leg.
Due to the gunshots, the elephant had developed septicaemia on its right leg.
Despite the best efforts of the veterinary doctors, the elephant succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday.
