Pratap Jena Demands Immediate Intervention In PMAY Negligence

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena has written a letter to the Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh requesting immediate intervention and taking steps to allocate houses to the more than six lakh families who have been left out. In his letter, the minister has said that there is a need to immediately synchronize the data of 6.65 lakh households in the state owned Rural Housing Portal with the Awaas+.

He also said that, the sanction of 1.84 lakh houses to the beneficiaries as of Fani Cyclone as promised by the Center has not been made despite many requests.

He requested the Union Minister to open the Awaas+ site window for some time to incorporate the names of eligible left our families.

Highlighting the Center’s negligence towards Odisha, the minister said, “While the genuine demand of Odisha has not been paid heed to by Ministry of Rural Development so far, synchronization of data from Karnataka State Government MIS into Awaas+ was allowed on 13-01-2022. Ignoring the repeated requests from the State will not support the cause of Odisha and it will further deprive lakhs of tribal beneficiaries living in the Scheduled areas of the State and deserving poor people belonging to KBK region and Western parts of the State.”

He wrote, “I would request your august office to rectify this injustice being meted out to the State of Odisha and its people.”
