Balasore, Sep 15: Balasore Police have arrested a miscreant of Jajpur over his alleged involvement in making a death threat call to Basta MLA Nityananda Sahoo over the phone, identifying him as a Supari killer.
The accused has been identified as Sk Mujamil of village Katipur under Mangalpur police station of Jajpur district.
He was booked under sections 384,506 and 507 of IPC, Police sources here on Thursday said.
“During the investigation, it was learnt the accused is a habitual offender and earlier he had made similar nuisance with another MLA. The accused used to download the phone number and images of the legislators through the internet randomly and used to make such threat calls to extract money said Superintendent of Police Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra.
According to reports, the complainant, Sahoo, had received a call on his mobile phone from an unknown number at around 8.30 am on Tuesday and informed the matter to the Balasore Superintendent of Police.
The Cyber police started an investigation into the incident and apprehended the miscreant suspecting his involvement.
The unknown caller had told the MLA that three men had given him Supari to kill him.
The SP said with the help of mobile phone tracking, the police picked up the accused from Jajpur.
