Naveen Launches Helpline For Animals
Bhubaneswar, June 8: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched a state Animal helpline to provide emergency health care services to stray and abandoned animals.
The helpline with a toll-free number 1962 will function round-the-clock and would provide emergency services to stray animals in distress.
The Chief Minister also launched tele-veterinary services. The services will provide livestock healthcare and animal husbandry advisory services to farmers and pet owners over the phone. Patnaik also launched Fisheries & Animal Resources Mapping System (FARMS).
Through this Web-GIS platform, one can get information on all the assets created in beneficiary-oriented schemes under the F&ARD dept. through satellite images by remote sensing.
An MoU has been signed between the Fisheries and Animal Resources Department with BAIF Livelihoods for the deployment of 1500 trained youths in the state to provide artificial insemination and basic animal health care services.
