Naveen Dedicates 24-hour Piped Water For Cuttack

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday dedicated a 24-hour piped water supply scheme at a cost of Rs.790 crore to all the families of Cuttack city. Inaugurating the drinking water supply scheme through video conferencing, Patnaik said the project would benefit seven lakh people from 1.40 lakh families in the city.

The Chief Minister said now 24-hour piped water supply has been provided to all families in 60 cities of the state including Cuttack. Very soon, round-the-clock piped water would be supplied to all families in each of the 114 urban areas of the state. On this occasion, Patnaik inaugurated the “Drink from Tap” program for two zones in Cuttack city and laid the foundation stone for “Drink from Tap” for the entire city. The project at a cost of Rs.360 crore would provide pure drinking water to the entire city.

Patnaik said the “Drink from Tap” program has become a role model not only for the whole country but also for all the developing countries of the world.

The program has also been included in the national policy for providing drinking water and AMRUT 2.0, he said. Under this program, by December 2023 pure drinking water would be provided to the entire city, the Chief Minister announced

Patnaik also inaugurated three water treatment plants built at a cost of Rs. 430 crore.

He cautioned the people about Omicron, the new variant of Coronavirus, and appealed them to strictly observe the Covid protocols.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena said four important projects would be dedicated to Cuttack this year.
