Jena had been apprehended yesterday by the Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3000 post-operation and Rs 5000 pre-operation from a complainant for conducting a caesarian operation of his cousin. The bribe money was recovered and seized from Jena.
Following the trap, Vigilance conducted searches on the residential building of Jena at Nandan Vihar, Nageswar Residency, Patia, Bhubaneswar. During searches, apart from other recoveries, the following assets including hard cash have been recovered in the name of Jena and his family members so far.
1) Cash worth Rs 1,12,00,000/- (Rupees One Crore Twelve Lakh) has been recovered and seized. This is the highest ever cash recovery in the history of Odisha Vigilance.
2) Residential triple-storeyed building at Kalarahanga under Infocity Police Station, Bhubaneswar.
3) 1 plot at Jatni, Khordha.
4) 1 Studio apartment in Puri.
5) Deposits in Insurance Policies Rs 44,16,864/-
6) Fixed deposits and Bank deposits over Rs 38.63 Lakhs.
7) 2 four wheelers (Hyundai Creta & TATA Manza).
Further searches are underway.
