Bhubaneswar: In what can be described as a one-sided love affair, the brother of the girl died while her father sustained grievous injuries in the Sukinda block in Jajpur district.
The brother of the girl died while her father was severely injured after being attacked by her lover at Bambilo village in Sukinda block of Jajpur district on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Mahapatra, the son of Santosh Mahapatra of the village. Both father and son were attacked by one Santanu Samal at around 9 pm yesterday.
Reportedly, Samal was in love with Jitendra’s sister. Jitendra and his family opposed it as Samal was already married. Irate over it, Samal attacked them.
They were rushed to Sukinda Community Health Centre where the doctor declared Jitendra as dead.
Following the incident, locals staged a dharna. They torched the vehicle of Samal and also ransacked his house.
