Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended the Junior Engineer of Tileibani Block in Deogarh district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 from a contractor.
As per a complaint lodged by the contractor, Junior Engineer Bijayananda Sahu had demanded the said amount for facilitating the release of the final bill of the work executed by the contractor.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance laid a trap and caught Sahu with the bribe money. The entire bribe amount of Rs 8000 was recovered from his possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sahu from a disproportionate assets angle. A case has been registered in this connection and an investigation is in progress against Sahu.
