Bhubaneswar, Mar 26: Deceased Gangapur IIC Deb Kumar Gamanga’s mother has shared details of the circumstances before her son’s death that deepens the mystery and raises a pointer that he could have been murdered or provoked to commit suicide.
Speaking to reporters today, the deceased police officer’s mother has stated that two ‘3-star’ police personnel were present with her son at the time of the incident.
“He had taken his food as usual. Two ‘3-star’ police personnel were present. They asked me to go to the bathroom, which I did. Moments later I heard the sound of a gunshot and came out of the bathroom. I saw my son lying in a pool of blood,” said deceased Gamanga’s mother.
On Friday, Gamanga had sustained two gunshots on his body below the waist under mysterious circumstances inside the campus of his police station.
He was rushed to Aska Sub-Divisional Hospital where he was declared dead.
Following the tragic incident, Ganjam SP, Brijesh Ray said that Gamanga had joined the Gangapur police station just four months back.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was hit by bullets from his service pistol. Further details will come out during the investigation,” Ray had said.
Forensic and ballistic experts from the police have been engaged for a deeper probe into the incident.
