Covid Positive Cases In Odisha Surged To 428

Bhubaneswar, July 7: The Covid Positive cases in Odisha continued to surge and crossed the 400 mark for the second consecutive day during the last 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 12, 91,946.

Information and Public Relations Department sources here said the state reported 428 fresh covid positive cases during the last 24 hours against 401 on the previous day.

The fresh infections included 56 cases in the age group of 0-18. While 251 cases were reported from quarantine 177 are local contact cases.

Khurdha district reported 183 cases, the highest in the state followed by Cuttack 88, Balasore 22, Sundergarha 20 and Puri 11.

Sources said 150 patients were recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours taking the total recoveries from the infection so far to 12,80, 532.

The state has now 2235 active cases.

State Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra said the Covid cases in the state is likely to rise in next 20 to 25 days but the severity of the case will remain low.

He said at present only one per cent of the patients have been hospitalised.
