Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police in Odisha launched a help desk on Tuesday that will redress crimes related to online fraud and cybercrime.

Reportedly, people who will fall victim to online fraud can call on the issued helpline number to get help- 7077798111.

The online fraud gang has become super active recently due to which the customers are getting trapped unknowingly and losing all their money.

Nowadays, a specific type of fraud has come to light. The customers are ordering mobile phones of costly brands having high-quality features and paying for the same via online mode. However, they are receiving a thick glass of a mobile size packed inside a zipped box.

The Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash has issued the helpline number in view of rising incidents of such online fraud and requested the citizens to inform Commissionerate Police by giving a call on the above-mentioned number.

Earlier on Monday, Dash also warned the citizens to be cautious while downloading apps. He informed that the usual way of sending OTP is no longer being used by cyber fraudsters. Whereas, the fraudsters have started sending UPI numbers.

He further mentioned some of the fraud apps such as Anydesk, Team viewer, and Quick Support as these apps give complete access of the downloaders’ phone to the fraudster from which all the important information can be stolen.
