BJD In A Mood To Rout The Opposition In The Panchayat Polls
By D N Singh
Like in the earlier polls, the Biju Janata Dal has reaffirmed its credibility among the people of Odisha.
However, pending the final results of the Panchayat polls, to be declared, the trends in favour of the ruling dispensation here appear irreversible. Whatever, the chances of a recovery from the decline seems impractical.
Tallies on the results and the remaining trends must have given the final scare for the opposition camp.
What can be described at this juncture is, that, mere connect with the people is not the only means but delivery has remained the principal subscribing factor for the political parties to woo the masses.
BJD chief and the chief minister , Naveen Patnaik, as it appears, never lost the spring in his steps towards the side of development.
Be it health or any other welfare measures Patnaik has been on the front foot.
And his efforts are never been as seasonal ones but, they are persistent, rather perennially. That is one important factor by which a political party or its leader succeeds to carve a place in the minds of people.
Regardless of the sweeping narratives against him he has never resorted to retaliations but rather his administration tries to deliver and promotes its achievements, thus forcing his opponents bewildered for issues.
Panchayat or urban polls are viewed as the touch stones for political credibility and not merely hammering with the negativeness.
These polls are the rock bottom of the wider structure called the Assembly regimen. By now it has become all the more predictable what the scenario would holds for them in 2024.
Without getting into the number games on branches of the PRI, it is natural to assume that the enemy camp would remain under an oppressive heaviness of defeatist impulses till the urban polls in March.
Even the most impartial and savviest of poll watchers or psephologist would agree, that the BJD under Patnaik would not only do enviably good in March but perhaps aims for a podium finish in 2024 as well.
