Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: A big success to Odisha Crime Branch in Lensman Manas Swain murder case. The investigative team has arrested the prime accuse Sasmistha Rout and one of her ally Jhuna Bhoi from Nalanga area of Bhadrak District on Monday.
A hide and seek of over 15 days has ended today with the arrests of Sarmistha and Jhuna. Both have been produced before The Chandbali JMFC court. The police has appealed for 10 days remand for quizzing over the murder case. Notably, the crime branch had sealed the ‘Dayal Ashram’ old age home at Sundarpada here at Bhubaneswar on Monday(Today).
Earlier on Mar 22nd Odisha Police has nabbed brother, Parameswar Rout from Vijayawada in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
According to police Pararemswar had allegedly planned for his sister’s escape following murder of Manas Swain. Prior to that on Mar 21st, Chandbali police(Bhadrak) had arrested two persons including former Information & Public Relation (I&PR) Director Niranjan Sethi for their alleged involvement in this sensational murder case of Lensman Manas Swain.
Manas Swain, a resident of Godipokhari village in Ranpur area of Nayagarh, was working as a cameraman in a Bhubaneswar-based web portal ‘Sampoorna’ run by Sarmistha Rout. His body was exhumed from Badhipatna hills in Nayagarh district on March 12, weeks after he went missing from Chandbali area in Bhadrak district.
Initial probe indicated that Manas Swain was abducted, brutally assaulted and killed for possessing a microchip that is suspected to have contained some obscene video clips.
