24-Hour Drinking Water Now For Cuttack Denizens At Home 

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday dedicated the ‘Sujal-Drink From Tap Mission’ to the residents of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) to provide clean drinking water.

The CM inaugurated project worth Rs. 790 crore to provide 24-hour safe drinking water to about 7 lakh residents of 1.4 lakh families under the CMC.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that all families in 60 cities of the state, including Cuttack, have been provided with 24-hour piped water. Soon, all households in all 114 cities in the state will be provided with 24-hour piped water.

Inaugurating the Drink From Tap program in two zones of Cuttack, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation for the Drink from Tap program for the entire city. Rs. 360 crore will be invested in the program.

Stating that the entire city will be provided with safe drinking water through the Drink From Tap program by December 2023, he said. Stressing on it Naveen said that it has become a role model not only for the country but also for the developing world.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated three Water Treatment Plants worth Rs. 430 crore. “Good drinking water is important for all of us. Our efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water are also important for the well-being of the people,” he said.

The Sujal Mission had been launched on October 13 last year to ensure quality tapped drinking water for more than 1.5 million people in more than 15 urban areas.

It includes 24/7 helpline centre with IVRS for grievance redressal, the inauguration of mobile water testing laboratory and quick response team for rapid redressal of water supply complaints.
