2-Day Bharat Bandh: Partially Ceases Normal Life, Shockingly Ambulance Movement Hampered
Bhubaneswar, Mar 28: A joint forum of central trade unions have given a call for a nationwide strike on March 28 and 29. However, day-to-day activities are unlikely to be hit. But in Odisha the scene is somehow inverted.
The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and the employees’ union of State Bank of India (SBI) also gave a nod to join the nationwide strike called against the anti-worker policies of the Central government.
Utkal Petroleum Dealers Association (UPDA) informed that Petrol pumps across Odisha will remain open on the two days (March 28 and 29) during Bharat Bandh.
In view of the Bharat Bandh, all examinations at the Utkal University, Rama Devi Women’s University and the Ravenshaw University scheduled to be held today have been postponed.
Two trains were blocked by the protesters at the railway station, while the movement of buses was also halted from the Baramunda bus stand.
Moreover, an ambulance was also not allowed to move by protesters. Following which the ambulance had to change it’s way to the concerned hospitals.
Notably, it has been informed that all the essential and emergencies services were exempted from Bharat Bandh restrictions on March 28 and 29.
The banking, mining, transport and trade sectors in Odisha will be highly affected as their state-level unions have extended support to the forum’s bandh call. The bandh will be observed from 6 am to 4 pm in these 2 days.
