With Indian Evacuees: “AI Flight From Bucharest-Mumbai, Arrive 8 PM” CSMIA
Mumbai, Feb 26: Air India flight carrying evacuated Indians stranded in Ukraine due to the Russian military operations, is expected to arrive in the city late in the evening on Saturday, according to the Mumbai airport operator CSMIA.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) said that it is extending full support to the Indian students arriving in flight AI1944, from Bucharest.
The flight is expected to arrive at 20:00 hours (8 PM) on Saturday, it said. Air India, in a tweet, had said that it will be operating flights on B787 aircraft from Delhi and Mumbai to Bucharest (Romania) and Budapest (Hungary) on February 26 as special Government Charter flights to fly back stranded Indian citizens.
The airport operator CSMIA said that it has blocked a special corridor for the arriving passengers. As per the guidelines laid down by the government, the Airport Health Organization (APHO) team at the airport will be conducting mandatory temperature checks.
On their arrival, passengers would be required to produce either a Covid-19 vaccination certificate or a negative RT-PCR test report. “In case any passenger is not able to show any of the documents at the time of arrival, they will have to undergo RT-PCR testing at the airport, where the cost would be borne by the airport. These passengers would be able to leave the airport, if post-testing report is negative,” it said.
CSMIA further said that if any passenger is tested positive, they would be clinically managed as per the protocols laid down by the government. The operator further stated that it is undertaking steps to smoothen the process for the young students arriving at the airport has fenced in a special area for the arriving passengers to sit and will provide them with free WiFi codes, distribute food and water bottles, and provide them with any guidance or medical assistance if required at the time of arrival.
Meanwhile, the Indian embassy in Ukraine has issued fresh advisory in view of the increasing attacks stating that the government of India and the embassy of India are working to establish evacuation routes from Romania and Hungary. It has also asked Indians to not to leave their homes unless necessary and to carry their documents with them at all times.
