Naveen Evasive On BJP’s Action Against Him

New Delhi, June 6: Naveen Kumar Jindal, who has been removed as Delhi BJP’s Media Head over his derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad, was evasive on Monday over the party’s action against him and the international embarrassment that India faced over this comment.

Surrounded by a few supporters at the Todarmal Road office of the BJP, the journalist-turned-politician tried to avoid the media in the face of a flurry of phone calls.

Jindal was removed as the Head of Delhi BJP Media Unit yesterday amidst serious objections and condemnation expressed by some Islamic countries over his remarks against Prophet Mohammad.

Indian envoys in at least three Islamic countries were summoned to the Foreign Ministry to lodge a protest against the utterances of Jindal and another BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who has since been suspended.

Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta, while sacking Jindal, said in a statement that his (Jindal’s) opinion was contrary to the party’s original ideology. He also said Jindal has worked against the party’s ideology and policies.

When UNI asked him about BJP’s action against him, Jindal merely said, “It’s party’s decision.”

In response to a question over the Indian government facing severe criticism from Islamic countries, he said, “The party and the government are in a good position to respond to it.”

After his expulsion, Jindal has changed his Twitter profile to “proud Hindu nationalist”.

Asked about attacks from the Opposition parties, he said, “When it is about the Hindus, no one speaks out”.

He slammed the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and accused both the parties of ‘politicising’ the matter.

Jindal also claimed he had received several “threatening calls” but failed to provide any evidence in this regard.

He said he has requested the Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, and DCP East to ensure his safety.
