By D N Singh

It was no mere journey down the years for Naveen Patnaik, fresh to politics in 1997, on this day, has completed 25 years in politics.

It is not about the years but the productive and successful delivery has made him the most envied chief minister in the country which his friends and foes admit.

Starting as a novice in public life he first stepped into it as the candidate for the Aska Lok Sabha bye-poll in Ganjam districts of Odisha. Since then Patnaik has not turned back and has been constantly honing his political acumen and winning the hearts of the people for the fifth consecutive time as the chief minister.

His first ever political responsibility started as the Union Minister of Coal & Mines under prime minister Atal Behary Vajpayee and then later to come back to the state and laying the foundation of Biju Janata Dal.

Soon things changed and in 2000 he was elected as the chief minister and since then has been holding the reigns of Odisha to this date which is viewed as the 25th years of his public life.

His secret of success has been measured by political analysts that, pro-people schemes and their implementations through the vibrant adoptions of ideas like 5T and a made-to-delivery mechanism which he monitors himself.

He is not, impartially choosy about seasons in politics like elections or no elections but his connect with the people remains round the years.
