Ranchi, Feb 24: Jailed former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday knocked on the doors of the Jharkhand High Court challenging the verdict of the CBI court and has also moved his bail petition.
In his bail petition, Lalu Yadav has sought it based on the completion of ‘half sentencing’ and has also highlighted the issue of his old age and pointed out that he is battling 17 kinds of different diseases.
One of the lawyers of Lalu Yadav said that apart from filing an appeal against the verdict of the CBI court, the bail petition has been also moved.
It has been informed that every Friday in a week, has been fixed as the day for taking up cases related to the fodder scam in the Jharkhand high court. The lawyers are hopeful of hearing in the case on the first date itself but it is the court that will take a final call as to when the bail petition will come up for hearing.
On February 21 a special CBI court had sentenced Lalu Yadav to five years of rigorous imprisonment and had imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh after he was convicted in the Doranda Treasury Case of the Fodder Scam related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore.
