New Delhi: India reported 2,09,918 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 1,37,336 fewer cases of infections as compared to yesterday’s reported data. The daily positivity rate stood at 15.77 per cent, up from yesterday’s 14.50 per cent, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The cases are also the highest in eight months. With a tally of 4.11 crore cases, India is the second worst-hit country after the US.
The weekly positivity rate stood at 16.40 per cent, as per the government’s data released today.
With the addition of new infections recorded in the country, the active cases mounted to 18,31,268. As per the ministry, the active cases account for 4.43 per cent of the total cases. However, there is a visible dip in the total number of active cases in the country.
As many as 2,62,628 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours. With this, the total recoveries climbed to 3,89,76,122. The recovery rate is currently at 94.37 per cent.
The number of people who succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours is 959. The death toll is now at 4,95,050.
To detect the presence of the virus, 13,31,198 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. Since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, 72.89 crore tests have been conducted.
Meanwhile, 166.03 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far in the country. Total inoculations done in the last 24 hours were 28,90,986.
India’s vaccination drive has set a remarkable achievement so far, over 75 per cent of the country’s adult population is now fully vaccinated against Covid-19, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed on Sunday.
