Economic Survey 2022: FM Sitharaman Tables Eco Survey; GDP Projection For FY21-22 At 9.2%

New Delhi, Jan 31: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled Economic Survey 2022 in the Lok Sabha today ahead of the Union Budget 2022 on Tuesday.

India forecasts economic growth of 8-8.5% for the coming fiscal year that starts in April, down from estimated 9.2% growth in the current fiscal year, its annual economic survey showed on Monday.

According to sources that all macro indicators indicated that the economy was well placed to face challenges, helped by pick ups in farm and industrial output growth.

The agricultural sector was the least impacted by the pandemic-related disruptions. It is estimated to grow 3.9 per cent in 2021-22 on top of 3.6 per cent and 4.3 per cent, respectively, in the previous two years. This sector now accounts for 18.8 per cent of GVA.

The Economic Survey focuses on supply-side issues to improve the resilience of the Indian economy. It may be noted that this is chief economic adviser V Anantha Nageswaran’s first Economic Survey, who took charge last Friday.
