New Delhi, Feb 23 : The father of a 16-year-old girl, who was gangraped and brutally murdered in Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday filed a petition before the Supreme Court, demanding a court-monitored investigation under the supervision of a Supreme Court or a High Court judge. “I demand an SIT probe into the matter under the supervision of a Supreme Court or High Court Judge. Till now, there is no possibility of a fair investigation,” said the father of the victim. He sought registration of an FIR against the officials of UP government for destroying the evidence.

He urged the apex court to initiate a probe into the gangrape and murder case of his daughter, by either CBI or SIT, headed by a sitting or retired judge of the Supreme Court or a High Court. The father of the victim sought protection for his own witnesses, besides an inquiry against the officials responsible for the cremation of the victim and illegal detention of his family members. He also demanded an inquiry against the UP government officials for wrongly handling the victim’s body. There should be a “direction for investigation against the officials who were responsible for cremation and illegal detention of the family members to be monitored by this Court,” the petition, filed before the Supreme Court said.
