Agartala Prepares To Welcome PM Modi

Agartala, Jan 2: A 21–member Special Protection Group (SPG) team along with four bullet-proof vehicles reached Agartala and conducted a security trial here on Sunday, two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura.

The security trial was conducted on the VIP Road between MBB airport and Swami Vivekananda stadium followed by a series of review meetings to make the Prime Minister’s visit a success on Tuesday.

According to a report, the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at the airport from Imphal by a special flight around 1:25 PM and inspect the newly built modern terminal at MBB airport for half-an-hour. Thereafter, he is slated to address a public rally in the Vivekananda stadium and dedicate to the nation by virtual mode the new airport terminal.

“The Prime Minister would formally launch the Mission 100 (Vidya Jyoti schools) and lthe Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Sammridhi Yojana from the stadium along with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. PM will leave the state at 3:10 PM for New Delhi,” officials said.

Considering the Covid-19 spike across the country, the state administration has been asked to take the highest level of precaution.Around 25000 people would be allowed on the ground where Modi would address the rally, the sources indicated.

The West Tripura District Magistrate D P Bardhan said security arrangements are being made as per the standard protocol and there will be multiple entry gates including one exclusively for VIP/VVIPs. The visitors will not be allowed to enter the ground with water bottles and any hard objects. Wearing of masks covering the face and nose have been made mandatory for those wishing to attend the rally.
