After Maharashtra Debacle, Who Is next? Nitish Or Soren !

By D N Singh

Bharatiya Janata Party’s dream run for conquering the domains of politics gets manifest.

Come-what-may, for the Uddhav led alliance government in Maharashtra now it seems to have suffered a huge blow driven by the political instability.

Whether it is the BJP, as a notional deduction is being made or it is a chronic internal problem, but it appears that, the Maha Vikash Aghadi in the state of Maharashtra is on the diminish.

If so, then that will be the beginning of an exacerbated change of political climate that may spread further to other states like Bihar and Jharkhand. Where the governments appear to be taking tight-rope walks.

Pending what comes out in Maharashtra, Jharkhand under Hemant Soren has already suffered from brunt in the recent days.

Besides the alleged charges of corruption and “arrogance” in the Jharkhand government, another Damocles sword is hanging over Soren.

The most specific and fatal threat to Soren dispensation awaits the decision of the Chief Election Commission(CEC) on June 28. It is about certain serious electoral lapses weighing heavy and it is very likely that, the CEC would not wait till the Presidential election is over. Because, the BJP knows Soren’s people are going to vote against the NDA prez candidate.

Besides that, there are cases of other grave offences which  are being dealt by the ED and the IT which might put the Soren government on the mat.

For long the state that has grown to be an Achilles heel, is Bihar. Months since, the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has been playing a kind of political footsie with his big partner, the NDA.

And he keeps the BJP’s central leadership guessing about his political stance for quite sometime. What is in his mind must be sending jitters in the BJP camp.

Playing to a few tunes set by Tejaswhi Yadav has not only shown Nitish in a dim light, but it also hints at his intention for a repeat curiosity for a possible locally cooked alliance with the RJD as had been in the past days.

“Which may be an option that Nitish reserves up in his sleeves to make use in worst of circumstances when his political survival  comes under a terminal threat.

His recent proximity with the Lalu Yadav family members are no secret. Subsequently, he put his foot firm on the issue of caste-based census in complete disregard to the denial by the Prime Minister.

Now over the Agnipath schemes, protests from Bihar has become more pronounced despite being the BJP as an ally in the government there.

The acrimony between him and the Center has somehow grown to become more acrimonious in nature.

So, underneath the alliance with the BJP, there appears a chronic weakening of the tie and which is visible. It does not seem that the BJP would take it long with the required political bonhomie and stay  a tolerant partner once it succeeds wresting power in Maharashtra.
