75 feet National flag unfurled at southernmost tip of peninsular India

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 11 : At the confluence of Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal with Indian Ocean, the southernmost tip of peninsular India ‘Kanyakumari Vivekananda Rock’, the amphibious warriors of Pangode Military Station, Thiruvananthapuram, unfurled a 75 Feet National Flag, on Thursday as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
A Military Band performance playing Saare Jahan se Acha and a traditional art – Kalarippayattu Display were also conducted as part of the programme, a release said.
The Station Commander of Pangode Military Station flagged off the `Tiranga Yatra’ at Kanyakumari.
In this yatra, 75 Army personnel holding national flags and moving towards Thiruvananthapuram by walking 75 Kms. On its way to Thiruvananthapuram, the Tiranga Yatra team will unfurl the national flag at Colachal War Memorial.
Ex-MP Vijayakumar, Station Commander of Pangode Military Station, Officers and soldiers were present on the occasion.
150 Feet Mast with Flag was handed over to the Indian Army by Ex-MP Vijayakumar in a function held at Panchalingapuram cross road near Kanyakumari.

On 14 Aug 2022, the Tiranga Yatra will be ‘Flagged in’ by the Governor of Kerala at Collachal Stadium, Pangode Military Station. The Governor will felicitate Gallantry Awardees, Veer Naris and Veer Mathaas during the event.
