Pakistan LOP Slams PML-N For Imposing Martial Law
Islamabad, April 4: PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Monday called Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s move to impose “civilian martial law” in the country as “unconstitutional”.
“April 3 will be remembered as a black day in the history of Pakistan,” Sharif said while referring to the similar unconstitutional decision taken by former PM General Pervez Musharraf on November 3, 2007. Geo News quoted the opposition leader as saying that the four-year tenure of the former PTI-led government was a period of “an individual government, totalitarian and fascist.”
Referring to Sunday’s ruling by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker on no-confidence motion, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief questioned, “If Qasim Suri termed the motion as ‘unconstitutional’, why wasn’t it raised earlier? “PTI used Article 5 to prevent themselves from the embarrassment that they would have faced after their defeat in case of voting on the no-confidence motion.” UNI
