Will Discuss Russia’s Aggression Against Ukraine, Urge India To  Act: Japanese PM

Tokyo/New Delhi, March 19 : Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has said that he will discuss Russia’s “unacceptable” aggression against Ukraine during his talks with Prime Minister Modi today and “urge” India to take action. In a departure statement, Prime Minister Kishida said he will also discuss the upcoming Quad summit in Tokyo and take forward the grouping’s decision to work towards a free Indo-Pacific. “I am heading out on a visit to India and then Cambodia. “Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is an outrage that undermines the very foundation of the order of the international community, including Asia. Such unilateral changes to the status quo are also absolutely unacceptable in the Indo-Pacific region. “During this overseas trip I will engage in exchanges of views with my counterparts about the situation in Ukraine and other matters and urge them to take action. “With Prime Minister Modi of India, I plan to confirm our intention to work towards the success of the Quad summit meeting among the leaders of Japan, India, Australia, and the United States to be held in Tokyo within the next few months, as well as our cooperation to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific.” He leaves for the Cambodia leg of his visit tomorrow morning.
