Pakistan Gives Visa To 2k Indian Sikhs For Baisakhi

Islamabad, April 7: The Pakistan High Commission here on Thursday said that more than 2200 visas have been issued to Sikh pilgrims from India to participate in the Baisakhi festival celebrations. The Commission said, “On the eve of Baisakhi celebrations, the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued over 2200 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to participate in the annual festival scheduled to be held in Pakistan from 12-21 April 2022.

“Chargé d’Affaires Aftab Hasan Khan, extended his heartfelt felicitations to the pilgrims and wished them a rewarding and fulfilling yatra. Pakistan takes immense pride in preserving sacred religious places and providing necessary facilitation to the visiting pilgrims,Cd’A.”

According to The Express Tribune, the pilgrims would enter Pakistan on April 12 and visit sites such as Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib, and return to India on April 21. Baisakhi is celebrated to mark the starting of spring in India and usually signifies the end of the harvest season. UNI
