India Refutes Stopping Issuance Of Visas For Sri Lankans

May 13: The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka on Friday categorically rejected claims that visas have been stopped and said that there were operational difficulties due to the inability of their Visa Wing staff.

“High Commission categorically denies that it or the Indian Consulates General or the Assistant High Commission of India in Sri Lanka have stopped issuing visas,” India in Colombo said in a tweet. It emphasised that they are striving to return their functioning to the normal levels soon. The embassy said, “In the past few days, there were operational difficulties due to the inability of our Visa Wing staff, most of whom are Sri Lankan nationals, to attend office.

We are striving to return our functioning to the normal levels soon. “We remain committed to facilitating ease of travel for Sri Lankans to India. Sri Lankans are welcome in India just as Indians are in Sri Lanka.”
