‘Gota Go Gama’ Stir Site Near SL House
Colombo, April 11: People protesting against the Sri Lankan government has renamed the agitation site near the presidential secretariat as the “Gota Go Gama” means “Gota Go Village” amid demands for resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa due to spiraling crisis.
The protesters have placed a placard renaming the ‘occupying area’ at the Galle Face Green as ‘Gota Go Gama’, NewsWire reported.
The island is facing its worst-ever economic and financial crisis. People have continued demonstrating against Gotabaya and his government over the crisis for the third consecutive day.
Demanding Gotabaya’s resignation, thousands of people thronged outside the presidential secretariat while many of them have even put up tents to stay overnight at the site. Protesters have set up temporary tents and marquees, providing food, medicines, among other necessities, while public toilets have also been set up for the convenience of the protesting public, NewsWire said.
