Los Angeles, Feb 24  : It appears former “View” panelist Rosie O’Donnell is not done, putting her foot in her mouth. While apologising to Priyanka Chopra following an ‘awkward’ encounter, calling her “Deepak Chopra’s daughter”, she took the liberty not to even know her name. An unimpressed former beauty queen and international icon, Priyanka Chopra advised her to google her name before issuing public apologies, next time. O’Donnell had shared a TikTok video on Instagram on Sunday and talked about her encounter with Priyanka and Nick Jonas at a Malibu restaurant. “It was ‘inappropriate’,” accepted the 59-year-old actor-producer, author and TV personality.

She said, “Nick Jonas, I apologise, and to the Chopra wife, I apologise, too.” Priyanka issued an open statement on the episode on Thursday on her Instagram Story: “Hi everyone. Some thoughts..I have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter. “But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly. “We ALL deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not be referred to as “someone” or “wife” especially in a sincere apology. “If we can learn to respect our differences in an authentic way, the world we raise our children in, will be amazing.”
She added in post script: “Also PS- As I’ve said before, not all Chopra’s are related to the great Deepak, just as not all Smith’s are related to the legendary Will Smith.” Chopra wears her individuality like an armour and had even dropped “Chopra” and “Jonas” from her social media handle earlier creating quite a commotion. O’Donnell was having lunch at Nobu last weekend, when she spotted the 39-year-old former Miss World, and her husband, Nick Jonas, at the table next to her. “So I said, ‘Hi, Nick Jonas, you were great in Kingdom,'” O’Donnell recalled in the TikTok video, before she then addressed the Matrix actress. “(I said,) ‘Hi, I know your dad.’ She goes, “You do? Who’s my dad?” “And I go, ‘Deepak,’” the former talk show host said. “She goes, ‘No, and Chopra is a common name.’” Confessing that she was “so embarrassed” by the faux pas, O’Donnell apologised to the new parents in the video, which was posted immediately after the lunch.

The next day, the comedian posted a second video to TikTok, clarifying that the Quantico alum “wasn’t rude” when the mix-up occurred. “It was just awkward,” she said. “I’m sure she gets sick of that. “I’m sure I’m not the only one (who was confused).” O’Donnell continued: “I just want to apologise to her and to everyone who thought it was really inappropriate of me. “Sorry. Sometimes I f–k up. I did at Nobu.” Priyanka’s father was late Ashok Chopra, a doctor who served in the military and died in 2013 after battling cancer.
They had a close relationship and the “Isn’t It Romantic” star revealed in her 2021 memoir, “Unfinished”, that she “fell into a depression” for nearly three years after his death. “I was fortunate to be able to continue working, which was my salvation,” she wrote about that time. “Still, the time felt like a never-ending slump, a long sigh of sadness, a sort of pause in my life that lasted almost two years.
