Australia’s Royal Easter Show Shut After Fatal Stabbing

Sydney, April 12: A large section of Sydney’s famous Royal Easter Show has been closed on Tuesday after a brawl in the park turned fatal, casting a dark shadow over the iconic Easter event enjoyed by children and adults alike. Police officers were called to the scene at around 8:00 pm (local time) on Monday after a large-scale brawl broke out. The altercation ended with a 17-year-old being stabbed to death and another suffering stab wounds to the leg. Organizing body of the show, the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of the state of New South Wales, announced on Tuesday morning that any ticket holders who no longer wanted to attend in light of the events would be offered a full refund.
“The RAS is shocked and saddened following the tragic loss of life on Monday night as a result of a fatal stabbing in the adult carnival, and our sympathies are extended to the family and loved ones of the deceased person,” read a statement issued by the RAS. Condemning the incident, they also said they would assist the local police force with the investigation.
