Panthers Party Founder Bhim Singh Dead
Jammu, May 31: The founder of the National Panthers Party, Prof Bhim Singh, passed away after a prolonged illness on Tuesday morning. He was 82. Prof Singh was hospitalized a few days back due to health issues.
Born on August 17, 1941 in Ramnagar belt of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir, he was a noted author and a lawyer of the Supreme Court.
Renowned as a firebrand student leader, Prof Singh floated the Panthers Party in the 80s.
He was elected to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly (1977–87) from Chenani-Ghordi (Udhampur) and was nominated a member of the National Integration Council (1991-2016).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death:

In November 2020, Prof Singh was expelled from the party for taking part in a meeting of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
Former MP Dr Karan Singh also expressed profound grief over the demise of Prof Singh.
“He was a highly intelligent and motivated person, a talented lawyer and an aggressive political activist… We will all miss his presence,” he said.
