Dubai-bound Flight Diverted To Karachi, Probe Ordered

New Delhi, July 5: A SpiceJet B737 aircraft flying from Delhi to Dubai was diverted to and landed in Karachi in Pakistan on Tuesday after an indicator light malfunctioned. A probe has been ordered by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

“On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi – Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning.

“The aircraft landed safely at Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked. No emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing,’ a statement from SpiceJet said.

‘There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments. A replacement aircraft is being sent to Karachi that will take the passengers to Dubai,” it said.

The airline has been under fire of late due to back-to-back incidents concerning its flights.

The plane was flying at a height of 5,000 feet when the cabin crew noticed the smoke.

According to an airline spokesperson, the pilots decided to return to Delhi. The aircraft landed safely and the passengers disembarked.

On June 25, a Patna-Guwahati flight had to abort take-off due to a technical snag.
