AP: Sub-Inspector Shoots Himself With Service Revolver In Kakinada City

 May 13: A 35-year-old Sub-Inspector Muthavarapu Gopala Krishna has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his residence in the early hours on Friday.

Police said, Krishna was a SI of Sarpavaram police station in the city. He was assigned for Chief Minister’s bandobust duty in Konaseema region and took part in the rehearsals on Thursday and returned home last night . The SI was about to leave around six am for Konaseema for the CM’s duty but around five am, he came out of the bedroom to the Verandah portion and shot himself dead while his wife and two children were asleep. Additional Superintendent of Police P. Srinivas while confirming the news said that the reasons for his extreme action are yet to be ascertained.

He joined the service as a direct recruit SI during 2015, served at various places including Razole and Kakinada traffic police wing before he took charge as the SI at Sarpavaram police station on August 21, 2021 and native of Nawabpeta of Jaggaiahpet Mandal in erstwhile Krishna district.

According to his friends in the police department, he was suffering from depression for the past one month. Krishna did his MCA and was interested in doing a job as a software engineer but joined the police department.

The usual tensions in the police department coupled with domestic problems might have led him to the extreme action, sources close to him said. He is survived by his wife, a three and half year old daughter and a two year old son . Superintendent of Police Ravindranatha Babu, Special Branch DSP Ambika Prasad, Sarpavaram Station house officer Akula Muralikrishna, two town police SHO Peddireddi Ramachandrarao were the first to reach his residence in Ramanaiahpet and consoled the bereaved family members.
