Bhubaneswar, June 21: The number of Covid Positive cases in Odisha again surged past 50 taking the total tally to 12,88,950.
The Information and Public relations department said the state reported 53 new Covid positive cases during the past 24 hours against 51 on June 18. Out of the total 53 new cases while 33 are from quarantine centres 22 are local contact cases. Five of the infected are in the age group of 0 to 18 years of age group.
The state has now 292 active cases. So far 12,79,479 have recovered from the disease. The death toll due to Covid remained at 9126 as no casualty was reported during the last few days. State Covid Nodal Officer Bijay Panigrahi Said so far 29 lakh people in the state have not taken the vaccine.
As the covid positive cases started rising, Panigrahi said a door-to-door campaign has been launched to identify people who have not taken the first, second and the precaution dose and to vaccinate them.
The campaign, he said has been started on the first day of the current month and so far 1.46 lakh have been vaccinated.
He said so far 29 lakh people in the state have not taken the vaccine.
