Odisha logs 1030 covid cases, one death in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar, July 28 : The daily covid load in Odisha surpassed the 1000 mark for the second consecutive day as 1030 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total cumulative covid cases in the state surged to 13,0115.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 1030 cases,603 were recorded from the quarantine centres and the rest 427 as local contact cases.
As many as 179 positive cases were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Sundargarh district topped the district tally with 227 cases followed by Khordha(164), Mayurbhanj(116), Sambalpur (77) and Cuttack (50). These five districts together contributed almost 61 per cent of the total new cases in the state.
Official sources said only one covid death was reported in the past 24 hours taking the total fatalities in the state to 9137.
There has been a marginal reduction of active cases which stands at 6974 in the past 24 hours against 7011 recorded on the previous day.
Khordha and Sundargarh districts reported more than 1000 active cases each and together accounted for 41 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
The Test Positivity Rate(TPR) has come down to 4.95 per cent in the past 24 hours from 5.46 registered on the previous day.
However, five districts, three of them in Western Odisha have recorded TPR above 7.5 per cent and come under the category of Red Zones while four districts with TPR varying from 5 per cent to 7.5 per cent have been declared as Yellow Zones.
