Fake Covid Vaccines With Rs 4 Cr Recovered By STF In Varanasi, 5 Held
Varanasi, Feb 2: In a major breakthrough, Special Task Force(STF) of Uttar Pradesh police arrested five people here on Wednesday and recovered from them fake Covid vaccines worth over Rs four crores. ADG STF in a statement here said Wednesday on the basis of the input of making fake Covishield and zycov d vaccines along with fake covid testing kit on a large scale, a raid was conducted by STF field unit Varanasi, in Rohit Nagar under Lanka police station area in the district Varanasi.
In the raid Rakesh Thawani, Sandeep Sharma, Lakshya Java (Delhi), Shamsher (Ballia) and Arunesh Vishwakarma were arrested and recovered from them fake testing kit, fake Covishield vaccine, fake Zykov D vaccine, packing machine, empty vial, swab stick. Rakesh, Sandeep and Arunesh are the native of Varanasi. Mr Yash said , on interrogation, Rakesh Thawani said he, along with Sandeep Sharma, Arunesh Vishwakarma and Shamsher, used to make fake vaccines and testing kits and supply them to Lakshya Java, who used to supply to different states through his network. After interrogating the accused and collecting information about their gang, advance legal action is being taken. He said as per the market value of the recovered drugs, the estimated value is about Rs 4 crore. U
