Daily covid load in Odisha remains static

Bhubaneswar Aug 6: Health and Family Welfare department sources said on Saturday that for the second consecutive day 836 covid positive cases were recorded in the state in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 13,18,145. State Director of Health Services Dr.Nirajan Mishra said the covid positive cases in the state have remained virtually static for the last one week. reporting below the 1000 mark. The active cases have also shown a declining trend for the past few days. Official sources said out of 836 new cases, Sundargarh district alone recorded 175, followed by Khordha (91), Sambalpur(83) and Mayurbhanj (72).

Sources said one more death was reported during the period, pushing the total covid fatalities in the state to 9146. The recovery in the state further surged to 13,02,941 with as many as 1011 covid patients recovering from the virus in the past 24 hours.

The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) has further come down to 3.80 percent. However, at least eight districts in the state recorded a TPR above five percent.
The active cases have also dropped to 6005, of which Sundargarh district has registered 1461 cases followed by Khordha (907). These two districts together contributed about 40 percent of the total active cases in the state
