All Colleges, Universities To Be Closed In Odisha From January 10: SRC
Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: The State Government on Friday issued an order over closure of higher education institutions with effect from January 10, 2022. The orders will remain in effect till February 1, and shall be applicable on all colleges, technical institutions (except Medical colleges, Nursing colleges and Institutions under the control of Health and Family Welfare Department), an order issued by the Office of Special Relief Commissioner stated.
The orders have been issued with an objective of ensuring strict social distancing and isolation to curb the spread of COVID-19, the State Government said. All hostels of the above-stated institutions shall also be closed down by Jan 10.
However, online education shall continue. The decision in this regard shall however be taken by the concerned institutes. The institutes shall remain closed till Feb 1.
The total cases include 409 in the 0-18 years age group have been found, informed the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Friday.
Among the 2703 positives, 1579 are quarantine cases and 1124 are local contacts. There are a total of 8237 active cases.
Khordha district has recorded the highest with 926 covid positive cases, followed by Sundargarh with 454, Cuttack with 191, Sambalpur with 179, and Jharsuguda with 106 positives.
