Will Rishi Sunak Fail To Create A History In Britain’s Political Domain

Will the Indian origin Rishi Sunak going to lose the race in his run for the Prime minister post in England? Post some initial advances in his stride, now, after the Thursday TV debate, it seems Sunak does not stand as much taller in his popularity over Liz Truss, who in her quest for the top post, PM, now appear gaining an edge over Sunak.

That was an upfront and open clash of wits, when on a hands show Sunak seemingly won against Truss regarding who won the debate for the prime ministerial post.

Fluctuating Fortunes

It was like a tale of fluctuating fortunes for both but a dampener for Sunak who in the opinion polls did not have that hope of making a history. A survey conducted by a website, loft Truss to around 32 percentage points ahead of Sunak which on an arithmetic yardstick shows that, Truss enjoyed the support of 58 percent those polled supported Truss.

Interestingly, Sunak is on the hinges of uncertainty when 12 percent showed that they are undecided and they were all Tory members. That leaves ‘’Sunak with 26 percent support. A hope for the former foreign secretary, Truss, that her lead over the rival grew 38 percent while Truss still holding 69 percent of headline votes in comparison to 31 percent of Sunak’ that was according to a YouGov survey.

Last Leg Blow

In a last leg blow for Rishi Sunak, Tory MP, Sajid Javid was seen supporting Truss for the main reason that, once a close supporter of Sunak, Javid has made the U turn opposing Sunak’s economic roadmap like “ sleepwalking into a high tax, low growth” while  in her campaigns Truss laid emphasis on immediate tax cuts if voted to power. And that is a dilemma for Sunak.
