Barsha reigns in Padampur, Naveen’s popularity dwarfs the rivals again

Mobilenews24x7 Bureau

As expected the results of the Padampur assembly by-election came out to be a stunner for the close rival, the BJP.

The Biju Janata Dal has nearly thrashed the opponents in general and landed a major blow to the BJP winning the seat by over 41, 673 votes. The winning margin which was initially clawing up slowly, came out to be a mammoth one by the end of the final round of counting.

In fact, it can be said without any malice towards any that, after winning the last Assembly election in Dhamnagar, the BJP had doubled its forces in Padampur to wrest it away from the BJD with the drive of the same euphoria.

Right from Union Ministers to a host of state leaders had converged in Padampur to reverse the psyche of people with, onetime MLA Pradip Purohit on the chariot.

However, as it seems, the popularity of the chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik negated all that the rivals had in their armoury of politics.

His chosen candidate Barsha Singh Bariah, the daughter of the deceased Bijay Singh Bariah, despite being a political novice, cruised through the stormy campaign and won by a whopping margin.

Votes always cast on the merit of a party’s delivery mechanism and that way, Naveen-led BJD proved that its chemistry with the bottom has remained dynamic.

If so, then all the electoral tactics by any party gets diminished and what the people have in mind that matters.

All said and done, the aura of chief minister appeared larger than any one at the war front.
