Salman Moves HC In Journalist Assault Case
Mumbai, April 5: Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Tuesday moved the Bombay High Court challenging a lower court’s direction asking him and his bodyguard to appear in person in a case of alleged assault filed by a journalist.
The actor was asked to be present in person in a lower court on Tuesday in response to a complaint filed by journalist Ashok Pandey, who alleged that he was assaulted on April 24, 2019.
Pandey said when he and his cameraperson saw Salman riding his bicycle and tried to record it, they were accosted by the “Dabangg” actor’s bodyguard. The actor and others did not appear in the court on Tuesday.
Salman’s plea is expected to be mentioned before Justice Revati Dhere of the Bombay High Court. Khan has challenged the cognizance taken by a local court on a private complain by the journalist. The actor allegedly entered into an argument and threatened the journalist. Upon hearing the complaint, Metropolitan Magistrate R R Khan on Sep 4, 2019 directed the police to investigateÛ”
The police said charges of intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace as well as criminal intimidation were made out against the accused. The court then summoned Salman Khan and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh.
