Mahabharat’s Bheem Praveen Kumar Sobti No More

New-Delhi, Feb 8: Actor Praveen Kumar Sobti, who was popular for playing the role of Bheem in BR Chopra’s mythological show, Mahabharat  died at the age of 74.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, two younger brothers, and a sister.

The actor reportedly suffered a heart attack. He passed away at his his Ashok Vihar residence in Delhi.

He had a chronic chest infection problem. At night, when he started feeling uneasy, we called the doctor at home. He passed away between 10-10.30 PM following a cardiac arrest.

Besides, an actor, he was also an athlete and been a top player in the hammer and disc throw.He was also a gold medalist in the Asian and Common wealth games and participated in Olympics.

He was also honoured with Arjuna award. He worked as the Deputy Commandant in the Border Security Force (BSF) as well.

Praveen has featured in films like Zabardast, Singhasan,Khudgarz, Karishma Kudrat Kaa, Yudh, Loha, Mohabbat Ke Dushman, Ilaaka, and others. His role as Bheem in BR Chopra’s Mahabharata, however, made him a household name.

The actor had also contested the Delhi Assembly elections on Aam Aadmi Party ticket in 2013. However, he lost. Later, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
