‘Top Gun Maverick’ To Screen At Cannes Film Festival
Los Angeles, March 16 : Clear for takeoff and going faster than an F 35, ‘Top Gun Maverick’ is soaring fast and high as it heads to land at the Cannes Film Festival. The sequel to the 1986 classic will screen on the French fest at its 75th Anniversary and will mark the first Tom Cruise film in over 30 years to screen at the French film festival. In the film, Cruise features as US Navy test pilot Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. The Top Gun sequel has faced a long and arduous road made complicated by the many production delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic putting a stopper on a theatrical release for the film time and again.
The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and will also star Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Monica Barbaro and Ed Harris with Val Kilmer, returning as Iceman. “Top Gun: Maverick’s” official world premiere is planned for San Diego and will reportedly take place ahead of the Cannes screening. The festival will be held sometime in May and the movie will officially hit theatres on May 28.
